VOLUNTEER: Winter Water Quality Excursion

Learn about winter water quality at the Squam Lakes Association with Lakes Region Conservation Corps members and become a part of our vital network of trained volunteers. This program will include training on ice safety, water quality sampling, and will be a hands-on introduction to winter water quality on the ice.

VOLUNTEER: Squam Salamander Brigade Training

Join us at the Squam Lakes Association to watch the Salamander Crossing Brigade Workshop, presented by the Harris Center for Conservation Education, to learn how you can volunteer to help transport these critters safely across the road and record their migration numbers.

Join the Squam Lakes Association for a fun, hands-on program designed for children under the age of 8. Through stories, discovery, and creativity, your child will explore the fascinating world of insects. They will learn what makes an insect an insect, what roles insects play, and will create their very own critters.

Canceled Guided Hike: Chamberlain Reynolds Memorial Forest

Join LRCC member Kevin Jones, on a 2.4-mile loop around Chamberlin-Reynolds Memorial Forest. This winter hike will provide excellent views of squam lake and may provide the opportunity to walk out on the ice (conditions permitting)!

The Soundscape of Squam Lake

Join the Squam Lakes Association for our Adventure Ecology program focused on the science and beauty of the natural soundscape. You will learn how to identify the unique auditory signatures of the watershed while reconnecting with the environment through mindful listening.

Guided Hike: Belknap Woods Trail

Join Diego and the LRCC for a fun, easy 1.9-mile loop through Belknap Woods! Pack your winter layers and plenty of water, and come ready with a great attitude for our trek through the woods.

Birding in the 21st Century

The days of using a landline to call your county for rare bird alerts is in the past! Join us Saturday March 28th from 7:30-10:30 am at the Squam Lakes Association to learn how to download and use “eBird” and “Merlin Bird ID” apps and bird in the digital age! Join LRCC member Kevin Jones in a fun morning of birding and learning new technology.

Salamander Brigade Program & Crafts

Join LRCC members Kevin, Macie and Diego for a fun after-school lesson at the Holderness Free Library on amphibian conservation and the upcoming spring Salamander Brigade. Following the presentation, participants can help craft salamander crossing signs and other creative projects.

Full Moon Hike: Whitten Woods

Join LRCC members Macie, Diego, and Kevin for a moonlit hike up to the Whitten Woods South Peak. It will be a lovely spring night filled with stargazing, moongazing, and listening for nocturnal critters.

Have you ever slowed down long enough to truly notice the patterns on a leaf, the texture of tree bark, or the way light dances across the water? Nature journaling is a simple yet powerful way to deepen your connection with the outdoors. It’s the practice of recording your observations of nature, through sketches, notes, questions, and reflections. Join us for a welcoming, hands-on nature journaling program open to all ages and experience levels.
