Being aware of the different ecosystems in the watershed and what they provide is important for how we appreciate and protect them. This is a great program for anyone looking to learn more about their surroundings and think more about the ways we interact with the environment.
Soon enough, anglers will return to Squam Lake by water and by shore to target large and small-mouth bass for their spring spawn. But have you ever wondered why these fish start bedding now? Or how they spent their winter? Come join us at the Squam Lakes Association for a roughly 2-mile kayak trip around Piper’s Cove and learn about how the seasons affect fish behavior.
Join us for a boat ride on Squam Lake to help collect a water column sample at Moultonborough Bay as part of our summer water-quality monitoring program. We will learn about how the SLA monitors Squam by completing a set of measurements together and then enjoy a lunch on Bowman Island.
Join the Squam Lakes Association for the first Weed Watchers training session of the season and learn how to identify aquatic invasives. After this training session, you will be able to look for invasive species like variable milfoil on your own and know how to report sightings on Squam as an official Weed Watcher!
