CANCELLED – Full Moon Hike: Whitten Woods

December 4 @ 6:00 am8:00 pm

This event is cancelled due to weather.

Come join the SLA on a winter hike to see the last Full Moon of the year! We will be heading up to the South Peak by the light of the full moon - about 1.8 miles round trip. We will meet at the Whitten Woods parking lot at 5:45pm on December 4th to begin our hike. As we hike we will discuss this month’s full moon and the historical significance of full moons in the area. Participants should come prepared with headlamps and winter hiking gear. If gear is a barrier to attending, please feel free to reach out as we have a free SLA gear library that can help!

All ages are welcome. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Registration is required for this free event.

Meet the Guide

This Full Moon hike will be led by Kyle Salmons, the SLA's Director of Education. Kyle will have been in his role at the SLA for 2 years come January, but he first came to New Hampshire to join the SLA as an intern in 2015. After the internship, he was a camp counselor for the JSLA program, JSLA camp director, and was an AmeriCorps member in 2018 before working as a Naturalist at the Squam Lakes Natural Science Center. Now back at the SLA, you can find Kyle skating on the ice in the winter, looking for animal tracks, or bundled up near a fire with a science fiction book.
