Introduction to Sprint Canoeing
July 6 @ 10:00 am–11:30 am
Introduction to: Sprint Canoeing
Join Ernest Byers at the waterfront of the Squam Lakes Association (SLA) to get a glimpse into the world of Sprint Canoeing.
Popularized in Canada, the sport of sprint canoeing made its first appearance in the 1924 Olympics as a demonstration sport. By 1936, the canoe sprint became a full medal sport. The sprint canoe is a narrow boat that allows the paddler, or team of paddlers, to cut through the water at great speeds. It requires balance and technique, but anyone with determination and drive can learn to participate. Whether your curiosity has been piqued, or you've been hoping for an opportunity to see a sprint canoe in action, come join us on the morning of July 6th!
All ages are welcome. Children must be accompanied by adults.
