Guided Hike: Wentworth Trail

Challenge yourself to a climb on the LRCC's very last guided hike of the season! We’ll begin our trek at historic Mead Base on the southern slope of Mt. Israel, then ascend the two-mile Wentworth Trail to its summit, where we’ll enjoy beautiful views of the Sandwich Range before heading back down. This is a challenging trail with about 1700 feet of elevation gain. Come prepared for a strenuous and rewarding hike.

All ages are welcome, but children must be capable of hiking four miles, and be accompanied by an adult.

Trailhead at Mead Base, Sandwich

Mt. Israel, Black Mountain, and Sandwich Dome are on land owned and managed by the US Forest Service. The SLA helps maintain the Wentworth Trail, Mead Trail, Guinea Pond Trail, Black Mountain Pond Trail, and Algonquin Trail.

Please come prepared to hike in late fall weather, with multiple warm layers, sturdy footwear (boots strongly recommended), plenty of water, and food as you prefer. We will be stopping for lunch.

Peter Laskin is a Lakes Region Conservation Corps member serving with the SLA. He recently graduated from Harvard University in his hometown of Cambridge, MA with a degree in Integrative Biology.
