Guided Hike: Red Hill Fire Tower

Who’s ready for a late summer hike? Join Diego and the LRCC team for a scenic trek to the Red Hill Fire Tower via the Red Hill Fire Tower Trail. This moderate 3.5-mile journey up and down the south side of the mountain offers a unique look at the region's heritage and quiet beauty.

As we hike toward the summit, we will walk past the historic site of the Horne family homestead, leading to incredible panoramic views overlooking Squam Lake, Lake Winnipesaukee, and the distant Squam, Belknap, Ossipee, and White Mountain ranges.

Please arrive at the Red Hill Fire Tower trailhead with a positive spirit, plenty of water/snacks, and hiking gear. We look forward to seeing you out on the trail!

Participants should be sure to have appropriate attire and gear for hiking. Bring with you: extra layers, food/water, water resistant hiking boots/shoes, and a day pack to store your gear in.

The SLA can provide trekking poles and day packs if needed. Other hiking gear may be available upon request.

Diego Bautista Torres, who recently pivoted toward a career in environmental conservation, joined the Lakes Region Conservation Corps with a background in music production. After serving with AmeriCorps in the American Conservation Experience, he is eager to bring his technical skills and public speaking experience to the Squam Lakes Association. As an Education and Outreach Assistant, Diego looks forward to protecting the watershed through community engagement, scientific monitoring, and hands-on conservation work.
