Science Pub: Gardening For Wildlife
March 3 @ 6:00 pm–7:00 pm

Gardening for Wildlife
Join the Science Center’s Lead Horticulturist, Emma Erler, to learn how to establish a haven for animals, while still having an attractive, appealing yard and garden. In this workshop you’ll learn about successful invasive plant management strategies to improve and enhance the existing habitat on your property. You’ll also discover how to plant and maintain native trees, shrubs, perennials, and entire wildflower meadows to benefit insects, birds, and small mammals.
Emma Erler received a B.S. in Environmental Horticulture and a MEd in Educational Studies from the University of New Hampshire. Her expertise is in ecological landscaping and native plants, and she loves providing education on topics such as gardening for wildlife and beneficial insects. Emma’s past professional experience includes being a horticultural field specialist for UNH Extension, and horticulturist positions at Tower Hill Botanic Garden and Heritage Museums and Gardens, both in Massachusetts.
Science Pub is a winter series presented in partnership with Squam Lakes Conservation Society, Squam Lakes Association, and Squam Lakes Natural Science Center and Walter’s Basin in Holderness. The talk begins at 6:00 PM, but we encourage you to arrive between 5:00-5:30 PM to enjoy dinner and drinks before the presentation. Seating is limited and registration is required.
