A 9.2-Mile Swim Across Squam

On Friday, August 15, AmeriCorps member Corbin Faidley accomplished an incredible feat by swimming the entire length of both Little and Big Squam in a single day. Beginning at Sandwich Town Beach and finishing at Ashland Town Beach, the 9.2-mile journey took 6.5 hours to complete. Along the way, Corbin made two short stops: the first at Edna Maude Beach on Moon Island and the second at the Holderness boat ramp before pushing through to the finish.

Corbin was supported throughout by Carolina Swindle, who kayaked the full route to provide safety from boat traffic, and Annalicea Melite, who helped with transportation. Completing this 9.2-mile swim in a single day is an impressive accomplishment and a true test of endurance.
