Full Moon Hike: West Rattlesnake
November 6, 2025 @ 7:00 pm–9:00 pm

Come join LRCC members Dani and Emma on a 2.0 mile hike up West Rattlesnake under the light of the full moon. The November full moon is called the Beaver Moon. It is also a supermoon, making it appear larger and brighter than a typical full moon because it will be at its closest point to Earth. Participants will enjoy a short evening hike and gazing upon the moon over Squam Lake. We will meet at the West Rattlesnake Mountain Trailhead Parking Lot and hit the trail at 7:00 PM.
All ages are welcome. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Registration is required for this free event.

Location
West Rattlesnake Mountain Trailhead Parking Lot
About one third of the Rattlesnakes are located on the Armstrong Natural Area, owned by the University of New Hampshire. Five Finger Point is also owned by UNH, and the lands surrounding these conservation areas are privately owned. Other partners include Squam Lakes Conservation Society (who owns East Rattlesnake Preserve), Pinehurst Association (of which Lakes Region Conservation Trust holds a conservation easement on a portion of land), Webster Land Co, and Rockywold Deephaven Camps (where SLCS holds an easement on a portion of land).
What to bring
Participants should be sure to have appropriate attire and layering for fall hiking, including comfortable hiking shoes. A headlamp, preferably with the red light setting, is also recommended as we will be hiking in the dark. These can be provided for participants who do not have their own. Snacks are welcome as we will be taking breaks on the trail.
Meet this week's guide
My name is Danielle Dexter and I am from Keene, New Hampshire. I graduated from Keene State College in 2024 where I studied Environmental Studies and Spanish. I developed a deep love for nature by growing up spending my time in the woods and lakes of NH; hiking, day dreaming, and looking for wildlife. Travel, experiential learning, and service based learning have greatly influenced my education and interests. I am excited to be back in my beautiful home state to learn more about lake conservation while helping to teach the public about all things ecology.
SLA's Adventure Ecology trips
Throughout the year, the Squam Lakes Association offers free programs open to the public on a variety of nature and conservation related topics.
The Adventure Ecology programs are presented by the Lakes Region Conservation Corps members who perform important conservation work in support of the Association's mission.
