Office Assistant Application - Summer 2022

The SLA is looking for motivated and enthusiastic individuals for full-time and part-time employment as an SLA Office Assistant. The Office Assistant serves as the face of the organization and supports the needs of the SLA’s conservation, access, and education mission. This position reports directly to the SLA’s Facilities & Access Manager. Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Providing regional visitors with information regarding the Squam Lakes area, the SLA, and SLA programs via in-person, email, and phone conversations 
  • Processing campsite and boat rental reservations, liability waivers, and collecting rental fees
  • Running the SLA gift store and conducting merchandise inventories
  • Maintaining cleanliness of gift store and public spaces
  • Potential to assist with various facilities projects, including but not limited to, applying linseed oil to wooden structures and painting


  • Must have a valid driver’s license
  • Must have good communication skills and customer service skills
  • Must be able to work as part of a team
  • Must be self-motivated and capable of working on projects independently

Dates of position: May 25th through September 5th. Potential for position to be extended to work weekends through mid-October

Compensation: $13 / hour

All employees of the SLA receive discount on merchandise in the SLA store; personal use of kayaks, canoes, and stand up paddle boards so long as it does not impact rental use; and discounts on campsite rentals. Successful applicant gain experience with the day-to-day functioning of a conservation non-profit and build a network within the environmental non-profit field.
