LRCC Alumni Spotlight March 2021

Ever wonder what our Lakes Region Conservation Corps members go on to do after their service term ends? Each month we hope to spotlight one LRCC alum so you can see how they go on to use the skills & experiences they gained as LRCC members. Perhaps you remember Grace, from a guided hike or one of her many Share, Learn, Adventure Videos. Well, now she is putting the skills she gained creating lesson plans, leading education programs, and making & editing educational videos to good use as the school garden coordinator at an elementary school in Virginia. You can check out her youTube channel ( that she used when school was all virtual. Way back in November Grace was planted garlic with the English language learners at her school and they taught her how to say garlic in Spanish and Pashto! She's really excited now that it's spring and the school is slowly transitioning back to in-person in time for the growing season. She’s been planting seedlings with all of the first-graders! Those elementary school students sure are lucky to have such a passionate, enthusiastic, engaging teacher sharing her love of gardening and nature with them! In her time outside of the school, she is a part-time intern with American Rivers researching stormwater permits across the country, she works part-time at an urgent care vet clinic, and enjoys time with her family (including pets, of course!) #LRCCAlumLight
