The Squam Conservation Internship (SCI) provides skills and experience for those interested in pursuing careers in environmental conservation and recreation. Interns spend their days working towards the eradication of variable milfoil, serving as caretakers for the SLA's campsites, performing trail maintenance on the hiking trails around Squam Lake, and other conservation-related activities. We are looking for applicants that are enthusiastic about environmental conservation and aren’t afraid to get their hands dirty.
This volunteer internship provides room and board, as well as food and travel reimbursements. Interns receive a wide variety of certifications through this internship, such as a scuba certification, a weed control diver certification, a NH Commercial boating license, Wilderness First Aid and CPR certifications. There’s really no better place to spend your summer than on Squam. The water is clear, the mountains are easily accessible, and the people are friendly.
