DESCRIPTION:Today's Adventure Ecology:\n\nJoin us for a creative and impactful art workshop on nature related zines. Zines are self published booklets informing their audience about a unique subculture or idea in a creative\, imagery-driven format. Participants will be encouraged to explore a topic surrounding Squam or nature that they feel strongly about. LRCC member Casey Meisel will help channel knowledge on this topic into a zine with an informative discussion on zines. Using group brainstorming and examples participants will be given art supplies and guidance in making their zine come to life.This is a low stakes environment where creativity\, community\, and acceptance are valued over art skills. All ages are encouraged to join. Children must be accompanied by an adult.This is a free event. In collaboration with local and state partners the SLA promotes the protection\, careful use and shared enjoyment of the lakes\, mountains\, forests\, open spaces and wildlife of the Squam Lakes Region.\n\n\n\n  \n  \n	\n\n\n\n\n  \n  \n	\n\n\n\n\nWhat to bring:\n\nParticipants should meet at the SLA barn by 11:00 AM. All art supplies will be provided\, but participants are welcome to bring their own. Magazines and newspapers make great supplies for zine crafting\, so if you have extra lying around feel free to bring them. \n\n\n  \n  \n	\n\n\n\n\nMeet this week's guide:\n\n Casey Meisel  is a Watershed Resource Assistant from Wilmington\, North Carolina. Growing up near the coast fostered her passion for aquatic ecosystems and water quality. She is excited to explore the Squam Lake watershed\, learn more about the diverse species that call it home\, and contribute to ongoing conservation and water quality efforts in the Lakes Region while engaging with the local community throughout her AmeriCorps service!\n\n\n\n  \n  \n	\n\n\n\n\n  \n  \n	\n\n\n\n\nSLA's Adventure Ecology trips\n\nThroughout the year\, the Squam Lakes Association offers free programs open to the public on a variety of nature and conservation related topics.The Adventure Ecology programs are presented by the Lakes Region Conservation Corps members who perform important conservation work in support of the Association's mission.\n\n\n  \n  \n	\n\n\n\n\nLakes Region Conservation Corps\n\nThe Lakes Region Conservation Corps (LRCC) is an AmeriCorps service program that develops skills and experiences for conservation professionals.
