DESCRIPTION:Today's Adventure Ecology\n\nThe lack of leaves shouldn’t stop us from IDing trees! Join the Squam Lakes Association for a winter walk through Chamberlain Reynolds Memorial Forest. This 1.5 mile adventure will take us through quiet forests as we learn fascinating facts about our native tree species\, and how to identify them even in winter!We’ll use all our senses to examine buds\, bark\, needles\, and more. By the end of the walk\, you’ll be able to recognize Beeches\, Birches\, Pines\, Maples\, and Hemlocks with confidence.This program is open to everyone\, beginners and experts alike. If you’re already a tree enthusiast\, come share your knowledge! Center Harbor\, NH 03226\n      \n                  \n\n      \n    \n\n  \n\n\nChamberlain-Reynolds Memorial Forest is located off of College Rd. in Center Harbor\, NH. This 169-acre forest is owned by the New England Forestry Foundation and has approximately 5 miles of trails managed by the Squam Lakes Association.\n\n\n\n  \n  \n	\n\n\n\n\n  \n  \n	\n\n\n\n\nWhat to bring\n\nPlease bring snacks and water. Participants should dress appropriately for winter hiking\, including warm layers and waterproof boots. Depending on trail conditions\, snowshoes or microspikes may be required; these can be provided as needed. The SLA may be able to supply additional equipment upon request.If you have a tree identification guide\, you are welcome to bring it as well.Not sure what to pack? She recently graduated from SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry with a degree in environmental biology. She loves hiking\, rock climbing\, and a good sunset.
