SUMMARY:Beaver: The Wetland Weaver
DESCRIPTION:Today's Adventure Ecology:\n\nThis paddle will be a trip to explore the islands! We will start at the SLA headquarters\, then take the 1.0-mile paddle to Moon Island\, then head over to Bowman before making our way back with another 1.0-mile paddle. We will stop\, explore the islands\, and take lunch while we are there. We'll get comfortable docking\, paddling with gear\, navigating with a lake chart\, using a compass\, and boater etiquette while out on the lake. We will have time to hike some of the island's trails and look around at some of the non-inhabited campsites as well. Paddling a canoe to Moon and Bowman islands can seem intimidating\, but we’re here to ease your stress. Whether you’re camping on the islands this summer or just want to explore and practice paddling\, come join us! Participants will gain an understanding of the geography of the lake and learn how to operate a kayak or canoe safely. The SLA works to conserve all parts of the Squam Watershed and learn how to navigate safely and properly on Squam Lake. All ages are welcome. Children must be accompanied by adults.\n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n Register now\n\n \n \n \n\n \n\n\n\n\n \n \n	\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n \n	\n\n\n\n\n \n \n	\n\n\n\n\nWhat to bring\n\nVolunteers should bring plenty of water\, lunch\, snacks\, sunscreen\, bug spray\, appropriate clothing\, as we will be out on the water for several hours. Be prepared for your hands and arms to get wet as we take water quality measurements. Come prepared for rain as well. As long as it's not too windy or thundering\, we will go out.\n\n\n \n \n	\n\n\n\n\nMeet your guides\n\n Hello! My name is Emma Murray and I’m a recent graduate of SUNY ESF College of Environmental Science and Forestry in Syracuse\, New York. I just graduated with a degree in Environmental Biology and applied my love of silviculture to get a minor in Forestry. I adore being in nature and sharing tons of fun facts about trees\, you’ve been warned if you ever go on a walk with me! If I’m not in the woods hiking around for cool plants you can find me baking\, reading a cool fantasy book or working on one of my knitting projects. \n\n\n\n \n \n	\n\n\n\n\n \n \n	\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n \n	\n\n\n\n\nLocation\n\nSquam Lakes Association\n\nMeet in the great room and we will head out toward Loon Reef and Moultonborough Bay.\n\nSquam Lakes Association\n\n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n 534 US Route 3Holderness\, NH 03245\n \n \n\n \n \n\n \n\n\n\n\n \n \n	\n\n\n\n\n \n \n	\n\n\n\n\nSLA's Adventure Ecology trips\n\nThroughout the year\, the Squam Lakes Association offers free programs open to the public on a variety of nature and conservation related topics. The Adventure Ecology programs are presented by the Squam Lakes Conservation Corps members who perform important conservation work in support of the Association's mission.
