SUMMARY:Full Moon Hike: West Rattlesnake
DESCRIPTION:Today's Adventure Ecology:\n\nCome learn more about the elusive creatures that are found in our backyard! Emma Murray\, a LRCC member\, is leading a hike to uncover the secrets of OWLS on March 9. This will be a 2.2 mile hike on the Dot Banks Nature Trail to Lost Lake in Sandwich. On this hike we will learn owl calls in an effort to hear a response from our feathered friends. Other than calling out we will try to limit our conversations so we don’t scare away the owls. If you have experience calling this hike will be perfect if not we’ll have opportunities to learn. There are no guarantee of owls as mother nature is impossible to predict\, however there is a good chance of owl interaction. All ages are welcome. Children must be accompanied by adults.\n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n Register now\n\n \n \n \n\n \n\n\n\n\n \n \n	\n\n\n\n\nPhoto from Flickr by USFWS\n\n\n\n \n \n	\n\n\n\n\n \n \n	\n\n\n\n\nWhat to bring\n\nIf Participants have their own night binoculars to use during the hike that would be great\, but not required. If you have the ability to download CornellLab's Merlin Bird ID application on a phone this would also be a helpful tool to help Identify the calls of owls and can be used to help you ID birds in other locations around the Lakes Region! Participants should also be sure to have appropriate attire and layering for winter hiking\, extra layers\, and comfortable water resistant hiking shoes as well as snowshoes and/or microspikes depending on conditions. The SLA can provide snowshoes & microspikes for up to six participants. My name is Emma Murray and I’m a recent graduate of SUNY ESF College of Environmental Science and Forestry in Syracuse\, New York. I just graduated with a degree in Environmental Biology and applied my love of silviculture to get a minor in Forestry. I adore being in nature and sharing tons of fun facts about trees\, you’ve been warned if you ever go on a walk with me! If I’m not in the woods hiking around for cool plants you can find me baking\, reading a cool fantasy book or working on one of my knitting projects. Growing up in Lakewood\, Ohio by Lake Erie and working with the National Park Service on Lake Michigan has given me such an appreciation for aquatic ecosystems and their critical role in our planets wellbeing. I’m very excited to spend a season working with the Lakes Region Conservation Corps and getting to experience New Hampshires beauty. \n\n\n\n \n \n	\n\n\n\n\n \n \n	\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n \n	\n\n\n\n\nLocation\n\nDot Banks Nature Trail to Lost Lake\n\n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n SLCS Trailhead\n \n \n\n \n \n\n \n\n\nHead down Milbridge Rd and very shortly after turning it should be on you right. There are no guarantee of owls as mother nature is impossible to predict\, however there is a good chance of owl interaction. All ages are welcome. SUMMARY:Holderness Recreation Opportunities
SUMMARY:Squ-inter is Coming!
SUMMARY:Volunteer: Chamberlain Reynolds Trail Work Half Day
DESCRIPTION:Today's Adventure Ecology:\n\nCome learn more about the elusive creatures that are found in our backyard! SUMMARY:Reading the Forested Landscape
Click here to view a list of SLA recommended gear for winter hiking. Not sure what to pack? Check out our Winter Day Hiking Checklist for some ideas. Feel free to reach out to the SLA with any questions!\n\n\n \n \n	\n\n\n\n\nMeet this week's guide\n\n Hello!
