SUMMARY:The Art of Upcycling
DESCRIPTION:Today's Drop-In Workshop\n\nThe average person in the U.S. creates nearly five pounds of waste per day\, and only about 32% of it is recycled or composted. That adds up to almost 300 million tons of trash each year. What if some of that “waste” could become art?Join the Squam Lakes Association (SLA) on Wednesday\, April 8th for a drop in workshop on upcycling. We will hold this event from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the SLA barn building. Here we’ll transform everyday discarded materials into imaginative sculptures\, mosaics\, and characters. Using bottle caps\, aluminum cans\, plastic lids\, old electronics\, and other recycled materials\, participants will reimagine trash as treasure. All materials will be provided\, but participants are welcome to bring clean recyclables from home to incorporate into their designs. Come ready to experiment\, collaborate\, and leave with a one-of-a-kind piece of art and a fresh perspective on what we throw away. This program is for anyone. All children must be accompanied by an adult.\n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n Register now\n\n \n \n \n\n \n\n\n\n\n \n \n	\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n \n	\n\n\n\n\n \n \n	\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n \n	\n\n\n\n\nLocation\n\nSquam Lakes Association\n\nThis program will be held in the SLA Barn. The Barn is located on the far side of campus from the office. To find the barn\, park in the main lot\, head away from the office\, and cross a wooden bridge. The barn is the big wooden building past a small cottage.\n\nSquam Lakes Association\n\n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n \n 534 US Route 3Holderness\, NH 03245\n \n \n\n \n \n\n \n\n\n\n\n \n \n	\n\n\n\n\n \n \n	\n\n\n\n\nWhat to bring\n\nFor today's program\, all materials will be provided. Some things to consider bringing include a thinking cap\, some creative juices\, and possibly a Pinterest board. Although not required\, bringing some recycling of your own is highly recommended. Anything from old rope to miscellaneous bolts could turn into a spectacular creation.\n\n\n \n \n	\n\n\n\n\nMeet this week's guide\n\nMacie Kane is one of our new Americorps members.
