DESCRIPTION:Today's Adventure Ecology:\n\nOn June 15 from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm the SLA will host a 2.5 mile hike around Chamberlain Reynolds where LRCC member Emma Murray will teach about tree pathogens. We will cover topics like\, decays\, wilts\, cankers\, foliar pathogens and certain fungi. On the hike we will see examples of these pathogens in their natural environment\, learn key characterictics\, and how arborists can manage for them. If you have trees on your land that you think are diseased come with questions!New Hampshire is the second most forested state in the nation\, so undertanding pest and pathogens found in our forest is important in maintaing their health and beauty. You’ll learn that culling trees\, creating boundaries and pruning at certain times are ways to manage pests along with being careful about where you source your firewood. This hike will also cover basics of tree ID as that is useful in determining host specific pathogens. Mainly this hike is about getting out in the woods and seeing the health not just the beauty. DESCRIPTION:Today's Adventure Ecology:\n\nOn June 15 from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm the SLA will host a 2.5 mile hike around Chamberlain Reynolds where LRCC member Emma Murray will teach about tree pathogens. We will cover topics like\, decays\, wilts\, cankers\, foliar pathogens and certain fungi. On the hike we will see examples of these pathogens in their natural environment\, learn key characterictics\, and how arborists can manage for them. If you have trees on your land that you think are diseased come with questions!New Hampshire is the second most forested state in the nation\, so undertanding pest and pathogens found in our forest is important in maintaing their health and beauty. You’ll learn that culling trees\, creating boundaries and pruning at certain times are ways to manage pests along with being careful about where you source your firewood. This hike will also cover basics of tree ID as that is useful in determining host specific pathogens. Mainly this hike is about getting out in the woods and seeing the health not just the beauty. Come join us as we explore the world of disease pathology. All ages are welcome.
